We can get you "Off Grid" and more energy sufficient, either through installing power sources or upgrading your current systems;

There are a number of things to think about when you begin to consider heading towards the Off Grid van life and there is a lot of misleading information out there.

Things to consider

• What your van life style already is. 

• How long are you aiming to achieve being Off Grid for?

• What other appliances do you intend to run off the leisure batteries, as this will determine the size of the battery and inverter you will need.  We have a range of leisure batteries and different sizes available for installation. 

• Lithium LifeP04 batteries are the most ideal and superior deep cycle technology, you can still find that some other batteries with deep cycle can help achieve your dreams and will help keep your costs down.

  • As a side note, Lithium LifeP04 batteries have a much longer shelf life. Whereas other batteries have less and you will end up looking to replace 2 or 3 times in the lifetime of a Lithium LifePO4.​

• Energy distribution systems to keep your leisure batteries charged.

  • Our advice is to build up your energy distribution systems over time, as you may find that one system will achieve all your goal.​

• Solar will provide free energy over time and with our Victron Mppt regulators, they will ensure optimum input from the solar panels.  Size of the solar panel is limited to space available on the roof. However, there is an option for fold out solar panels as an extra energy source.

• DC-DC - Whilst the engine battery is on, the alternator will be charging the leisure battery. As fantastic as this is, you will end up paying towards the fuel for the engine battery over time (not free energy).  However, it is an effective method of gaining energy from the engine.

• As a fail safe, an inverter charger should be considered. Even though this is costly as an install, it is great should you wish to gain a charge to leisure batteries from mains supply (ideal in winter months when the solar is running at a lower capacity).  This is  ideal for those who have families and use their motorhome with a dual purpose.  Whilst touring with the family, you are likely to use more electricity, whilst travelling slightly lighter - the Off Grid adventure awaits.

• Although the systems are designed to help achieve Off grid, it is still important to keep an eye on the energy usage.  Our smart tech will help you monitor this via bluetooth and your smart phone/device.
